Imperial Hotel Oya Carving Salt & Pepper Shakers
The Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, was designed and constructed for almost a decade (1913-1922) and became an architectural icon for the city. Unfortunately, due to damaged sustained from earthquakes, the landmark was demolished in 1968. However, years prior, in 1923, the main entrance and hotel lobby were preserved and reconstructed at the Museum Meiji-mura, an open-air architectural museum near Nagoya in Aichi prefecture.
These ceramic salt and pepper shakers take design inspiration from the commanding and unique architecture found throughout the Imperial Hotel.
These salt and pepper shakers were designed by Seyla Muise, Industrial Designer for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.
