Digital Archive Project
Beth Sholom Synagogue has a trove of documentation related to the design and construction of its National Historic Landmark Building. These documents are a important part of the history of the synagogue and Wright’s legacy. This archive consists of historically significant documents related to the construction project which include correspondence, newspaper articles, and historical documents documenting the building project.
There are currently 10 binders of material. Each Binder has an estimated 300 pages, which will require individual white-glove handling and scanning. Also, there are an estimated 40 wide format plans. Each will be scanned as 200dpi, bi-tonal, multi-page, PDF and indexed.
This project will allow Beth Sholom Preservation Foundation to have access to these documents and easily share their content with the wider community. Modernizing the historical trove will benefit not only the Foundation, but also provide historians, architects and enthusiasts with information that is not currently accessible to the public.
Supporters of Beth Sholom and Frank Lloyd Wright can support this effort with a donation to the project. The total cost for this digitization is estimated to be $4,800. To support this important initiative, please click here to donate.
